Monthly Highlights: Third Trimester
Growth is rapid this month. The eyes can now open and shut. The bones begin to harden, and the fetus kicks and stretches to exercise its limbs.
The uterus is becoming crowded, and there's little room to move around. But you will still feel plenty of kicks. Soon the fetus should settle into a head-down position in preparation for birth.
In the last month, the fetus gains about half a pound a week. By the last week of pregnancy, it is fully mature and completely fills the inside of your uterus.
